Age Requirements

The Wake Forest Titans (WFT) are committed to providing our players with the best possible experience in athletics. We want our players to be engaged and excited about football at all levels. We strive to give them an atmosphere where they feel safe and can learn the fundamentals of the game. Due to the wide weight ranges, we encourage all players to remain at the lowest level until they age out of that group. This is especially true for players with little or no experience.

As most other CFF teams do, we are not allowing any 5yr old players to participate in the Tiny Mite tackle football program. WFT strongly suggest that all 7yr old players remain in Tiny Mite division to gain proper experience in tackle football.

Please feel free to contact the WFT Football Commissioner via email at wftcommish@gmail.com to discuss any valid reasons you feel your player should move up a level. The decision is at the discretion of the WFT board if that player is eligible to move up.

Weight Requirements

Each tackle football player will be weighed at check-in sessions and again at the beginning of the season to determine and confirm division assignment.

Players must maintain the weight requirements throughout the season for their division. Players will be weighed prior to each game. The first week of the regular season, players must weigh within the published weight range. Each subsequent week, the allowed weight will be increased by one pound. Players are weighed in their uniforms, minus their helmet. The following amounts are added to the maximum weight each week for equipment weight allowances: Tiny Mite and Mitey Mite: 7 lbs, Junior Pee and Pee Wee: 8 lbs, Junior Midget and Midget: 9 lbs.
